Jake Paul is set to fight in another boxing match, although this time it’ll be a much more worthy opponent in Ben Askren.
Paul initially fought KSI’s little brother Deji Olatunji as an amatuer in the undercard for the first Logan Paul and KSI fight (which he won after Deji forfeited). He then turned professional, winning via TKO over YouTube personality AnEsonGib. His second professional fight was against former NBA player Nate Robinson, and Paul won with a vicious knockout.
Now he faces Askren, a retired MMA fighter and Olympic wrestler. While Askren has an impressive resume, he’s also never fought in a boxing match before. Askren and Paul have different thoughts about how that will factor into this fight.
“This is boxing versus MMA, and you’re going to see the difference,” Paul said during the fight press conference. “You’re going to see the difference of a wanna-be fighter, a guy who choked in the Olympics, a guy who choked in the UFC, and now a guy who is going to choke against Jake Paul. I’m going to end this guy’s career.”
Askren, on the other hand, says this will be an easy transition.
“When you think about it, boxing is so much easier than mixed martial arts. You just have to take your two hands and punch somebody in the face,” Askren said to MMA Fighting.
Although he does admit it’s a different sport. But he’s still confident saying, “If I want to beat up an amateur boxer, it ain’t gonna take me more than three months of training to do so.”
