Visit Corpus Christi unveiled the Gulf Coasters program Tuesday, a new beachfront hype squad for the Coastal Bend.
The Gulf Coasters leisure engagement program was created to expose Corpus Christi tourists to the various restaurants and shops the city has to offer.
“We wanted to enhance the visitors’ experience,” said Gulf Coasters program leader Sammie Ramon. “This is a new element for our team and for Corpus Christi that I think will really benefit us for years to come.”
The members of the Gulf Coasters will travel in “Gulf” carts to provide visitors with giveaway opportunities and engage with visitors to let them what is going on Corpus Christi and how they can participate.
Ramon said the program will also launch a digital Gulf Coasters challenge that will take visitors on a scavenger hunt around the city for a chance to win prizes and experience more on their trip.
“Being able to get in front of these individuals that maybe didn’t know there was other things outside of the beach going on is what we want to do,” Ramon said. “Our inspiration really came from our visitors’ experience and we want to change that for them every single year.”
Ramon said the team will be made up of five to six extroverted full-time employees and other volunteers from the community.
The Gulf Coasters program is set to begin May 21 with volunteers and staff cruising in the customized golf carts along beaches, at conventions and through other key places around the city.
Visit Corpus Christi is actively searching for full-time employees to fill various positions in the Gulf Coasters program.
