McALLEN—The Valley Symphony Orchestra presents Super Strings, an exclusive pre-season chamber concert, on October 14, 2021 at the McAllen Performing Arts Center. The concert will feature Felix Mendelssohn’s String Octet in E-flat major, a complex and exciting work authored when the composer was just 16 years old.
The chamber concert ensemble is comprised of 8 musicians in an intimate setting, with seating close to the stage. Attendees will enjoy the best seats in the house and have an opportunity to watch the musicians work as an ensemble more closely than in a typical symphony performance. At the start of the event, Maestro Peter Dabrowski will host a pre-performance talk and wine reception. He will share insights on the work, the composer, and the history surrounding the piece.
“This performance will be something very special for those who attend,” said Dabrowski. “In this piece, the musicians’ performance is very difficult, but also very dazzling. And in a chamber concert setting, the audience sees it all unfold.”
The VSO will follow all local and state public health ordinances at the time of performance. Those who wish to secure socially-distant seating should contact the VSO office before purchasing their tickets.
A limited number of tickets are available for this event. All seats are $70 and include the wine reception prior to the performance. The evening’s activities begin at 8:00 pm at the McAllen Performing Arts Center. Tickets can be purchased anytime through ticketmaster.com or by phone or in-person at the McAllen Performing Arts Center Box Office.
