He is breathing on his own,” Jillian said.”He just absolutely lights up the room, any room that he walks into. Even when we walk in there to him he’s ready. He’s ready to communicate with us, ready to talk to us, ready to crack jokes, he was asking for ice cream,” Jacquelyn said.”Derek is the kind of guy that literally, if you don’t leave the room crying because you’ve laughed so hard, you’re doing it wrong,” said Hanna Lovins, who is a close friend to the victims. “These two men really are more than just good Samaritans. They’re more than just someone who picks someone up. They’re wonderful, wonderful people.”According to the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation, King is also considered a suspect in a carjacking incident in OKC that resulted in one woman being shot. “It makes you really angry. It makes you really question, like these, these two guys who didn’t have to stop, who didn’t have to help you, or try to help you. And the question was just like, why, why did you continue to do this,” Lovins said.”That’s really just unimaginable. It doesn’t seem real, it’s like, how can someone be so cruel,” said Preston Lipe, who, with consent from family members, established a GoFundMe account to help with expenses for Riggs and Myers. As of Tuesday, more than $6,000 had been donated to the account titled, ‘Good Samaritans, Jake & Derek.’ “Jake and Derek wouldn’t want us to be angry, and they would want us to just stay positive,” Lovins said.”They just want thoughts and prayers right now, just positive, positive vibes coming their way,” said Jacquelyn.
