Laredo Taco Co. has launched a new six-episode video series called “Made Right Here Road Trip” that takes viewers on a Texas-sized taco tour in six cities including Corpus Christi.
Host and taco journalist Mando Rayo will team up with local city advocates and personalities to discuss Hispanic culture influences and heritage, including local businesses, food, music and art, while showcasing the rich history between Texas and Mexico in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.
Rayo said it is an honor to have his culture represented in the series.
“We connect with Latinos across Texas and give them the opportunity to share their own stories in their own ways,” Rayo said. “We also highlight my personal favorites from Laredo Taco Co. You’re sure to be craving breakfast tacos or carnitas by the end of each episode.”
The first episode, highlighting Laredo, premiered Tuesday and the second installment will feature Corpus Christi next week.
Laredo Taco Co. will hold a special screening and viewing party Tuesday, Oct. 12 at the Loteria Mural Parking Lot in downtown Corpus Christi. Rayo will host, along with local Chicana mural artist Mayra Zamora.
The food business embodies the spirit of bringing others up by shining a light on various types of artisans in Texas, Zamora said.
“This screening is special to me because it’s airing during the end of Hispanic Heritage Month,” Zamora said. “There are a lot of us pushing to bring Chicano and Latino culture to the forefront, whether it be through art, food, or music.”
The free outdoor family-friendly event will include free Laredo Taco Co. tacos, free raffle tickets and door prizes.
