OU to Face TCU Saturday in Fort Worth

NORMAN –  (RV/RV) Oklahoma (12-4, 2-2 Big 12) completes its two-game road swing at TCU (11-2, 1-1 Big 12) Saturday, Jan. 15 at Schollmaier Arena. 

The Sooners have won the previous eight meetings against TCU and downed the Horned Frogs in Fort Worth last season 82-76 behind 32 points by Austin Reaves

OU last played at No. 21 Texas Tuesday, Jan. 11 in only its third road game of the season. Jalen Hill tallied a team-high 13 points and Groves added 10. 


Saturday’s game will be available on ESPN2 with Chuckie Kempf and King McClure on the call.

  • TCU (11-2, 1-1 Big 12) enters its Big 12 clash with Oklahoma 1-1 in conference play and earned its first victory in the league Wednesday, Jan. 12 at Kansas State, 60-57. The Horned Frogs are coached by Jamie Dixon in his 5th season.
  • Mike Miles boasts a team-high 17.8 points per game and has team highs in field goal (175), 3-pointer (65) and free throw (68) attempts. Emmanuel Miller is TCU’s second leading scorer and averages 10.5 points per game, while the only Horned Frog to start in all 13 games.
  • The Horned Frogs average 72.2 points per contest, while holding a 9.8 scoring margin. TCU averages 42.7 rebounds per game, which ranks first in the Big 12 and sixth nationally. 


  • Oklahoma and TCU will meet for the 32nd time and the Sooners have won the last eight meetings. OU holds a 12-2 advantage in games played in Fort Worth.
  • Oklahoma associate head coach David Patrick spent two seasons as assistant head coach at TCU. The 2016-17 Horned Frogs went 24-15 and won the National Invitation Tournament. The following season (2017-18), TCU went 21-12 and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 20 years, earning a No. 6 seed.
  • In the March 8, 2014 meeting, Oklahoma earned the 30-point victory (97-67) over TCU in Fort Worth, Texas. The victory is tied for the eighth largest road victory margin in program history.


  • Umoja Gibson has been near perfect from the free throw line this season. Gibson has made 39 of his 41 attempts (95.1%) and has made 37-consecutive attempts from the charity stripe and has tied the program record set by Nate Carter in 2007. 
  • Against No. 11 Iowa State, Gibson recorded a career-best 10 free throws made. The Waco, Texas product has not missed from the free throw line since he went 2-for-3 against ECU.


Oklahoma hosts Kansas Tuesday, Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
