Daffodil Avenue will undergo construction over the next 10 months, approximately for Roadway Improvements, including widening the roadway from a two-lane to a four-lane road from Ware Rd. to Taylor Rd, including improvements to curb and gutter and adding a five-foot sidewalk on both sides of Daffodil Ave.
Other improvements to the roadway include storm drainage improvements along the entire span of the construction the construction project. The storm system will connect to the Mission/McAllen Drain Ditch, which will positively impact the water management along the construction area and adjacent subdivisions.
Also included in the scope of work are water and sanitary sewer infrastructure improvements. The cost of the project is $5,535,400.32 and is funded by the McAllen Development Corp. The contractor for the project is GO Underground, LLC and the engineer is HALFF Associates, Inc.
“This project will not only bring much-needed relief from flooding to the area, it will also help improve mobility and quality of life to this fast-growing sector of McAllen,” said Mayor Villalobos.
