EDINBURG, texas – The Hidalgo County Courthouse will remain closed on Thursday, June 8, because of a faulty cooling tower that requires replacement.
The frame of the cooling tower collapsed on Tuesday, June 6, preventing water from cooling the courthouse building. A new cooling unit was located and was in route to Hidalgo County on Wednesday.
County officials have determined that it would be best to remain closed during repairs and subsequent testing. All operations in the courthouse, including jury duty, will be temporarily halted.
