The La Feria Memorial Monument Committee would like to acknowledge and offer a big Thank You to all the participants that made the Memorial Day Ceremony a big success.

Our very own Master of Ceremonies Alfonso Guillen, Jr began the ceremony by introducing himself and all the guests for the the remainder of the ceremony.

Angelica Baldivia opened the ceremony with a wonderful prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Jena Mia Hernandez.

We acknowledge and Thank Chief David Phinney, the La Feria Fire Department, and La Feria Police Department for their assistance in setting up and breaking down, helping with the sound system and the Flag Ceremony.

We acknowledge Mayor Olga Maldonado and Mr. Maldonado for all their time and contributions.
Our special keynote speaker Mr. Jose Silva from Golden Corral honored us and the veterans with a tremendous presentation and a huge surprise donation from his employees matched by Mr. Silva. The committee offers a big Thank you.

Mr. Gus Garcia sang the national anthem and did a superb job.

Mr. Larry Beers also honored us with a fantastic introduction of himself as the present Commander of Post 439. He also read a very appropriate poem.

A Special presentation was awarded to our Taps players who have been assisting us for the last 3 years:
Senior Santos Hernandez and Junior Estrella Torres of the La Feria High School Band.

This year’s ceremony honors two committee members who are no longer here to assist us with our future projects.

Veteran Jose I. Loya and Veteran Hector Taguilas. Pictures of their paver & bench can be found on Facebook at “La Feria Veterans Memorial Monument Project”.

It’s been 50 years since the Vietnam War. We give thanks and honor to our very own that fought in that war and honor with respect to the ones that did not return.
