Laredo College has a longstanding history of seeing some of the most talented students walk its halls over its 76 years. The college often works to highlight all these efforts, and Thursday’s opening reception for this semester’s first Student Art Exhibit was a grand success.

“There is an abundance of talent in the visual arts in Laredo that is clearly reflected in this exhibit. It not only shows off our budding student artists’ talent but also their hard work in the classroom,” LC Art Professor Eva Soliz said. “The dedication of our art faculty always goes beyond the classroom to help students develop the skills and creativity needed to evolve as artists, transfer to four-year colleges and reach their highest potential.”

With over 40 pieces on display from various mediums, visitors will be able to experience art pieces including drawings, paintings, ceramics and mixed media projects during the exhibit’s month-long operation.
Until Oct. 13, gallery hours will be Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

Every art piece seen at the exhibit was created by a student from the Drawing I, Drawing II, Design I, Design II, Painting I and II, and Ceramics I and II courses. For more information on our Student Art Exhibit, visual art programs and degrees, call (956) 721-5224 or email arts@laredo.edu.
