BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The first CycloBia “Cycling the Streets” event of 2023 in Brownsville is set to bring a fun-filled experience for the whole family.
The event is scheduled to take place on Friday, September 22, 2023, starting at 6:30 p.m.
It will kick off on East 7th Street, which will be temporarily closed to traffic between East Ringgold Street and East Taylor Street.
CycloBia is a free event that aims to transform selected streets in Brownsville into car-free zones temporarily. During the event, residents can enjoy a variety of recreational and sporting activities such aswalking, skating, biking, running, and skateboarding without the worry of vehicular traffic.
CycloBia is designed to be a family-friendly event, providing a safe and enjoyable environment for parentsand children to cycle through downtown Brownsville without concerns about traffic.
Streets used for CycloBia will be blocked off to ensure the safety of participants. This means that cyclists can pedal through the streets without the need to worry about vehicles.
The event features bicycle routes that connect various city parks. Each park will have a designatedReclovía area, where participants can enjoy free group exercise classes, live music, dining options, concessions, and rest areas.
Water stations will be strategically placed along the route for your convenience. Be sure to check the event map to locate these stations. Additionally, you’ll have the option to purchase beverages along the route, or you can bring your own.
The event culminates in a Wellness Block Party where you can dance and have fun to the beats of your favorite 80s music.
This CycloBia event promises a fantastic opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy a car-free and active evening, exploring the city on bicycles and participating in various recreational activities.
