BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The City of Brownsville, in collaboration with the Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation (GBIC), our local Economic Development Corporation, announces the 2023 Careers and Coffee Job Expo this Wednesday, September 27th! Poised to be the largest career fair in South Texas, this transformative event will feature thousands of employment opportunities and will take place at the Brownsville Event Center, with potential employers seeing applicants between 8:00AM and 4:00PM, followed by on-site interviews between 4:00PM and 7:00PM. We invite residents to extend this invitation to friends and family who reside in Brownsville and are currently working in other cities to come back home and take advantage of these career opportunities.
Designed to provide professional networking for every level of the workforce, from front-line staff to top-tier executive positions, this hiring event is the perfect avenue for professionals seeking new opportunities, seeking to shift careers, or seeking to land their dream job.
Brownsville’s major industry leaders will be present, showcasing a plethora of employment opportunities from job sectors that include Healthcare, Government, Aerospace, Construction, Engineering, Manufacturing, Social Services, Finance and Education. The event will feature some of the largest employers such as SpaceX, City of Brownsville, Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB), and the newest employer to the Brownsville market, Bechtel Corp (Bechtel) and NextDecade. Bechtel is in search of hundreds of candidates for its groundbreaking project at the Port of Brownsville. Bechtel and NextDecade will build a massive new gas liquefaction plant and export terminal, which will export liquified natural gas to terminals around the world.
And, the employment opportunities do not end there. Other premier organizations such as Southwest Key Programs, SteelCoast, University of Texas – Rio Grande Valley, Texas Southmost College, Valley Baptist Medical Center – Brownsville, Valley Regional Medical
Center, DHR Health Brownsville, Brownsville Independent School District, IDEA Public Schools, and many more will also be at the hiring event.
Attendees can expect on-the-spot interviews by some employers, a move that expedites the hiring process. Applicants are encouraged to come with an electronic, and hardcopy of their most up-to-date resume. Additionally, there will be complimentary professional headshots available and personalized interview counseling, ensuring that every applicant is presented in the best light possible.
In keeping with the theme of “Careers and Coffee”, the event promises freshly brewed coffee for attendees.
