Flames engulf patrol SUV – San Benito News

According to the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), on Monday, October 9, 2023, at 4:33 a.m., a Cameron County Sheriff Deputy’s vehicle became engulfed in flames during a pursuit between Los Fresnos and San Benito.

According to the sheriff’s office, during the pursuit, the suspect’s vehicle came to a stop and the accused fled on foot.

The report details that the suspect eluded capture due to the brushy area where the deputy lost sight of him. As the deputy returned to his vehicle, he noticed smoke and flames coming from the front.
The SBFD arrived on the scene; however, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames by this time. The suspect from the pursuit was later identified as 24-year-old Diego Ramirez.
