MISSION, Texas – In a united effort to combat bullying and foster a community filled with kindness, the City of Mission, in partnership with Mission CISD, Sharyland ISD, IDEA Public Schools, and La Joya ISD, is thrilled to invite the community to the United in Kindness Walk.
This exciting community event is on Saturday, October 21, 2023, starting at 9 a.m. at Bannworth Park, located at 1822 N Shary Rd, Mission, TX.
In alignment with National Bullying Prevention Month, the Mission City Council proclaimed October as Anti-Bullying Prevention Month in Mission. The United in Kindness Walk aims to foster a culture of respect and understanding while emphasizing the importance of standing up against bullying.
Residents of Mission and the surrounding communities are invited for a day filled with various engaging activities, including games for the children, art activities, a petting zoo, FREE backpacks and school supplies while supplies last, and the unveiling of a kindness garden and a buddy bench. The idea of a buddy bench is if a kid feels lonely, has no one to play with, or is being bullied, they take a seat on the bench, a signal to other kids to come over and talk or offer to play.
The United in Kindness Walk is a testament to the power of community collaboration and collective effort in creating a society that values compassion and empathy. This FREE event is open to the public and encourages attendees to bring their friends and family to participate in this initiative.
