The Laguna Madre area will celebrate spectacularly Halloween 2023. There will be costume contests and parties on both sides of the Queen Isabella Causeway and in Laguna Vista. Regardless of age, there is something for everyone, even pets.

On Friday, Oct. 27, the South Texas Ecotourism Center will celebrate Halloween from 6-8 p.m. Trick or Treat on the nature trails, listen to ghost stories and join the costume contest.

Laguna Vista will be having their Fall Fest at Roloff Park Oct. 27, 6 p.m.-10 p.m. The family-centered event offers games, a bounce house, food vendors and more. Costumes are encouraged.

Have fun with the kids at the family-friendly Spooky Saturday with the Turtles. There will be games, prizes and spooky-themed enrichment for the turtles. Costumes are encouraged, and social pets are welcome on a leash. Oct. 28, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission includes all the fun activities. Adults- $10; Senior (62+)/Military- $6; Children (5-17) $4.

Hallo-Wings will be held at the SPI Birding, Nature Center, and Alligator Sanctuary on Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; this kid-friendly event is free. Nathan Hubble, Mariachi, Sol Azteca, and Jenuine Cello will provide live music. The family will be entertained for hours with face painting, sand castle lessons, costume contests, butterfly garden tours, crafts, educational activities, vendors and more.

Also, on Saturday, Oct. 28, Gulf Guardians will host the Ohana-Ween Surf Contest at Wanna Wanna’s Beach Bar and Grill. Free surfing lessons will be offered from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The contest starts at 1 p.m. Participants must register at www.spisessions.com. All divisions are co-ed and the division heats will last 20 minutes. All competitors are required to wear costumes.

The Port Isabel Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a trick-or-treat evening at the Port Isabel Lighthouse on Oct. 28. The event is free, and those in costume get free popcorn. Trick-or-treating starts at 6 p.m., followed by the classic movie “Beetlejuice” at 8 p.m.

For adults, at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, the Rio Grande Distillery and Brewery will host its Halloween Costume Party.
