The heart of the Shrimp Cook-Off lies in the tasty dishes prepared by the competing chefs, who hail from restaurants in Port Isabel and the surrounding area. Port Isabel will host its annual Shrimp Cook-Off on November 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Sutherland’s parking lot. This culinary event celebrates the local delicacy of shrimp and brings together seafood enthusiasts.
These culinary artists compete for prestigious titles such as “Best Shrimp Dish” in various categories. Festival-goers enjoy mouthwatering offerings that include shrimp ceviche, grilled shrimp skewers, coconut shrimp, spicy shrimp tacos, and shrimp gumbo, among other delectable creations.
The competition at the Shrimp Cook-Off is categorized into several divisions: Best Appetizer, Best Main Course, Best Dessert, and the Taster’s Choice Award. Festival-goers have the opportunity to sample these shrimp dishes and cast their votes for their favorites.
Beyond the culinary delights, the Shrimp Cook-Off in Port Isabel embraces the vibrant cultural tapestry of the community. The event features live music from local musicians, a flea market and food vendors, creating a lively atmosphere. Dancers, embracing a variety of traditional and modern dance forms, showcase their talents.
