The City of Mission has proclaimed November 10th, and every subsequent Friday, as Remember Everyone Deployed (R.E.D) Day, a powerful initiative to honor and show support for the brave men and women currently serving in the nation's armed forces. MISSION, Texas – The City of Mission has proclaimed November 10th, and every subsequent Friday, as Remember Everyone Deployed (R.E.D) Day, a powerful initiative to honor and show support for the brave men and women currently serving in the nation’s armed forces. As a poignant symbol of this commitment, Mission is hosting a R.E.D. Flag Ceremony on Friday, November 10th at 9:30 a.m. at the Mission Police Department (1200 E 8th St, Mission, TX).

The City of Mission takes immense pride in being the only city in Texas with this official designation, reflecting the community’s dedication to acknowledging the sacrifices and contributions of those who have served and currently serve the country. All attendees are encouraged to wear red. 

“Honoring our service members is not just a duty but a profound expression of our gratitude for their selfless sacrifices. We are honored to be the first city in Texas to proclaim R.E.D. Day. We encourage everyone to participate in this meaningful tribute to our brave men and women in uniform,” said Mayor Norie Gonzalez Garza.

SECOND EVENT: 

Following the R.E.D Flag Ceremony, Mission is hosting the 3rd Annual Veterans Appreciation BBQ on Friday, November 10th, at 11:30 a.m. until supplies last at the Mission Parks & Recreation (721 Bryan Rd, Mission, TX).

One thousand chicken plates will be distributed in a convenient drive-thru style, with the option for veterans to dine in. Ample seating will be provided for those choosing to enjoy their meal on-site.  

City of Mission staff proudly comes together to prepare these delicious meals, serving as a small token of appreciation for the sacrifices and dedication of all veterans.

“The Veterans Appreciation BBQ is a way for us to come together and show our immense appreciation for our veterans. We are honored to serve those who have served us, and we look forward to this special event each year,” said City Manager Randy Perez. No registration is necessary for this event. The lineup starts on Highland St. and E 1st St. For those dining in, parking will be across the street at the CEED building (801 Bryan Rd, Mission, TX).
