On Tuesday night, Nov. 7, incumbent Rees Langston celebrated her win for SPI City Council Place 4 in the Sunset Room at Louie’s Backyard on SPI. Langston defeated her opponent, Talley Ragsdale, by a 32-vote margin.

Seven hundred and seventy-three residents cast their vote in this off-year election, demonstrating the appeal of the candidates.

In a statement to the Press, Langston said, “I’m very excited to have won. It was a close race. My opponent, Tally Ragsdale, ran a clean race and was courteous to me throughout.”

Langston pointed out that Ragsdale mentioned during the forum about wanting her peer group to become more involved in the city, and based on turnout, this happened. “I hope she will go beyond that by putting in an application for a city committee and urging her peers to do the same.”
