Pavement operations for the Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway will continue, according to a Facebook post made by the City of Port Isabel.

The paving continues the existing work that began on Sept. 30. The original completion date was Nov. 1. According to Ray Pedraza, Texas Department of Transportation [TxDOT] Pharr District Public Information Officer, the new date is Dec. 31.

“The work on the road includes milling, paving and restriping the existing highway,” said Pedraza. He also said the work went through a “temporary pause” due to material availability challenges. However, TxDOT is working with the project contractor to resolve these issues.

New pavement markings will be placed for drivers as construction progresses. Work will be done by road crews nightly Sunday through Thursday between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. The post continued to state that drivers should expect to see lane reductions through the working area and should refrain from parking on the shoulder of State Highway 100 while crews are present.

TxDOT is a government agency that specializes in Texas roadways and their safety. The Pharr district covers Cameron County, among other areas.
