Local artistic hot spot Artsea has moved locations. Previously in the lighthouse shopping square, the establishment is now located on South Padre Island. Artsea is a family-owned business, headed by Carolyn
Hauschildt, Wendy Hauschildt and Jodi Eberhardt.
“We loved Lighthouse Square, and all the other businesses there. It was a nice business community,” said Wendy Hauschildt. “We were at Lighthouse Square for 17 years, we loved it there, but it was time to move
on.”
Moving this longstanding business means moving years of merchandise and memories, along with a hefty amount of art and supplies. It took twenty days to complete a “small remodel” and fixture installation at the
new location.
“It’s been a real challenge,” said Wendy Hauschildt.
After the unpacking process was complete, they opened for business on Nov. 20.
The new location offers an open and organized display of all the things Artsea has to offer. Artsea now features two rooms for visitors. The main front room is where the merchandise is sold, things like handmade
jewelry, soap, candles and more can be found there. Right next to the main shopping area is the “art room”, where general art supplies, craft activities, journaling supplies, a printmaker and much more are located.
“It’s nice to have this kind of creative space with creative products,” said Wendy Hauschildt.
According to her, the new space gives Artsea a refreshing layout, allowing the owners to take full advantage of it and create something guests will enjoy.
“People love Artsea’s products, we wanted those to be displayed nicely and have a better home,” said Wendy Hauschildt.
The team at Artsea wants to use this new location as the ideal creative space “so people can look at art, be inspired and buy something so they can follow up on that inspiration.” Wendy Hauschildt particularly
enjoys being next to Cafe Karma, a local coffee shop.
Artsea Gallery and Goods are now located at 5200 Padre Blvd site 103. For more information, call (956) 943-3200 or visit their website at artseagoods.com. For updates, visit their Instagram and Facebook pages.
