South Padre Island is inviting the public to welcome in 2025 through its annual exhilarating tradition.

The 27th annual Polar Bear Dip will begin registration at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with the dip itself scheduled for noon at Clayton’s Beach Bar and Grill, located at 6900 Padre Blvd.

“The Polar Bear Dip is one of South Padre Island’s beloved traditions,” Visit South Padre Island Executive Director Blake Henry said in the release. “It’s a fantastic way to kick off the New Year surrounded by the beauty of our beach and a festive atmosphere.”

The release encourages guests to wear their most creative costumes to participate in the costume contest.

The free event is open to the public and will feature live music all day, with officials saying in the release it’s “the perfect way to start your year with laughter, excitement, and unforgettable memories on Texas’ Best Beach.”
