LV Library holds fundraiser – Port Isabel-South Padre Press

By ARABELLA SERRATA

The Laguna Vista Friends of the Library [LVFL] is holding its second annual Sip and Support Fundraiser on Feb. 2 from 6-8 p.m. to raise funds for various library projects.

The event will feature a “curated tasting” of various wines and cheeses, alongside non-alcoholic beverages and a silent auction for multiple items, according to library clerk Elizabeth Baldwin.

This includes wine baskets, chocolate baskets, gift certificates for retail and restaurants, a night stay in a condo and more. There will be a 50/50 raffle, where the winner will receive half of the total money garnered in raffle ticket sales, and the other half will remain with the library.

In previous years, these fundraisers have been used to remodel the library’s children’s section. Baldwin said this year, the funds may go to new furniture and other events. Recently, the Library held a support group event, a therapy dog story time, a book and movie club, and more.

Tickets for the event are available for purchase at the library and with an official Friend of the Library for $25. They can be reached at library friendslv@gmail.com. Attendees must be at least 21 years of age.
According to the Laguna Vista city website, the Laguna Vista Public Library aims to “develop collections, resources, and services to meet the cultural, informational, recreational, and educational needs of our diverse community.”

LVFL is a non-profit organization that funnels support directly to the library, making its mission possible.
