PHARR, Texas – The City of Pharr has learned that U. S. President Donald Trump and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum have reached an agreement wherein Mexico will send Mexican National Guard soldiers to the U.S.-Mexico border to prevent the trafficking of drugs.

As a result, the 25% tariffs on goods imported from Mexico have been paused for one month while negotiations on tariffs are held between U. S. and Mexican officials.

The City of Pharr applauds the pause and remains optimistic for mutually beneficial outcomes for both countries so that the trade of goods and international relations that our countries rely on continue uninterrupted.
