Letters: President defended | MyRGV.com

This is in response to Mr.Zarate’s letter to the editor on March 20.

I don’t fault then-President Donald Trump for promoting the COVID-19 vaccine. He like me was raised believing the medical industry.

President Trump and I are within one month of being the same age. We were raised believing in the medical industry, in particular our family doctors. I recall our family doctor making a house call to my home when I was a small child. That was common in those days. My parents put doctors on a higher plane than I do today. That was common in those days.

I am retired and spend a lot of time reading books and spending time on the internet. I found out in December 2020 that the new so-called COVID “vaccine,” which is actually only a “gene therapy drug,” was not approved for human use. It was still an experimental drug. And that is how the FDA presented it to the general public. I suspect many of those people who took this drug were not aware of that.

I have always admired people who volunteered to take an experimental drug, not knowing the effects it could have on them. But I never volunteered.

Fortunately for me I was retired when COVID hit, so I had no interest in taking an experimental drug. That said, I admit if I had a family when COVID hit and was still working to provide for them, I would have taken this experimental drug if it was required to keep my job, without knowing the help or harm it could cause.

And no, Mr. Zarate, President Trump was never convicted of rape. But a Democrat jury did convict him of committing felonies, and the Democrat judge decided his punishment. This explains the term “political convictions.”

Editor’s note: No vaccine can be distributed for generalized use without FDA approval. The agency approved two vaccines through an expedited emergency process.

Historic house needs support

The Neale Home is one of the oldest houses in Brownsville. It was built around 1845 or 1850 and is owned by the city of Brownsville. It desperately needs to be restored and preserved.

The city of Brownsville plans on moving the house to Mitte Park, but has not relocated it yet.

Neale was an important figure in Brownsville before, during and after the Civil War.

Other preservationists, historians and descendants need to get involved with the city to help save and preserve his house.

Response to letter

This is in response to the letter “Grift is up” by Jamey Honaker published March 28.

The writer makes a string of accusations about waste of taxpayer dollars, and cites the “Donald Trump administration” as an authority. I invite the author to verify any of the statements using the biblical standard of two independent witnesses.

I do agree that kleptocrats followed by both Republicans and Democrats are rampant in government. I believe Mr. Elon Musk attained a billion-dollar contract from the government while working for the government.

I don’t know if Musk has a genius IQ. I do know that I do not want a man who is taking a chain to the bureaucracy auditing my books.

I am a conservative, and am tired of letters doing nothing but casting blame and vitriol in either direction. Next time perhaps the author will talk about how effective his man’s policies are.
