LOS FRESNOS, TX—Dollar General announced this week that its new DG Market, located at 31573 FM 510, is now open.
The new DG Market store offers an expanded selection of fresh meats, fruits, and vegetables, along with the same categories, brands, and products customers trust Dollar General to carry.
To celebrate, the store is hosting a grand opening event on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 8 a.m., with free $10 gift cards for the first 50 adult customers and DG tote bags for the first 100 customers.
“We are excited to introduce our new DG Market format to customers and look forward to welcoming them to our new location,” said Matthew Simonsen, Dollar General’s senior vice president of real estate and store development.
“At Dollar General, we believe the opening of our new Los Fresnos store will bring positive economic growth to the community through creating new jobs and career opportunities, increasing access to affordable products, generating tax revenue, and providing access to Dollar General Literacy Foundation grants. We aim to offer a pleasant shopping experience and look forward to being a strong business partner and a good neighbor,” he added.
According to a media release, Dollar General plans to create new jobs in the Los Fresnos community, with the store expected to employ about 10-15 people, depending on the store’s specific needs. Interested individuals can review available positions and apply online at www.dollargeneral.com/careers.
The company offers employees competitive wages, award-winning training and development programs, and benefits such as day-one telemedicine access, health insurance options, 401K plans, tuition reimbursement, paid parental leave, and adoption assistance for eligible staff, the statement says.
“DG strives to be a good neighbor and is committed to the communities it proudly calls home, as evidenced by unwavering support of literacy and education initiatives through the Dollar General Literacy Foundation,” Simonsen said.
The opening of the Los Fresnos store creates opportunities for schools, nonprofit organizations, and libraries within a 15-mile radius to apply for Dollar General Literacy Foundation grants.
Since 1993, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation has awarded over $275 million in grants to nonprofit organizations, helping more than 23.8 million people take their first steps toward literacy or further education.
