BROWNSVILLE, TX – Longtime legal professional is vying for the 107th District Court of Cameron County.
“With heartfelt gratitude to my family, my colleagues, and this incredible community, I proudly announce my candidacy for Judge of the 107th District Court in Cameron County,” Garcia said in a prepared statement.
For nearly 20 years, Garcia has dedicated her life to the law, all while raising a family in the place she’s always called home, she said in her statement.
As a mother of three, wife, and working professional, she said that she understands the everyday struggles many families face: making ends meet, balancing work and children, and navigating a legal system that can often feel overwhelming.
“That’s why I believe our courts need more than just legal knowledge—they need empathy, patience, and a fundamental understanding of life,” she said. “I’ve built my legal career in Cameron County, fighting for families, defending the accused, advocating for children, and standing beside clients through some of the most challenging moments of their lives.”
“I’ve also served in the courtroom as a Justice of the Peace and a Magistrate Judge, applying the law with a steady hand and an open heart. My legal experience is broad, covering Family Law, Criminal Defense, Probate, Real Estate, Civil Litigation, and Mediation, and my courtroom experience has prepared me to lead with confidence, wisdom, and fairness,” she added.
“When people walk into a courtroom, they bring their lives with them—their fears, hopes, and often, their deepest worries. I understand that. I’ve lived it. I want to ensure every person who appears in the 107th courtroom feels safe, heard, and treated with dignity,” her statement continued.
If elected, Garcia said she will ensure that everyone who stands before the court is treated fairly and with compassion, regardless of background, income, or legal experience. This courtroom will not be a place of fear—it will be a place of justice and respect, she insisted.
Born and raised in Brownsville, she has lived in Cameron County nearly all her life. She graduated from Homer Hanna High School in 1998 and earned my Bachelor’s in Business Administration from UTB/TSC in 2002 where she achieved both Dean’s List and President’s List recognition.
In 2003, she was accepted into Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, and after completing her degree in 2006 and passing the Texas Bar that same year, she returned home to begin my legal career.
With her husband, Doroteo Jr, the couple has been married for 21 years, and have three children—Andrea Elizabeth, Darren Matthew, and Aaron Luke—and a lively household that includes their beloved dogs and birds.
The Garcias are parishioners of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and remain active in Lord of Divine Mercy Church, where our children completed their sacraments.
The Garcias are volunteers and supporters of local nonprofits, youth sports, and community causes.
“Cameron County has given me and my family so much, and giving back to that community is a way of life for our family,” she explained.
As an attorney, Garcia said she’s stood beside clients during divorces, custody battles, domestic violence cases, and moments of crisis. “I’ve represented everyday people who didn’t think they had a voice in the courtroom. I’ve taught students at Texas Southmost College and mentored young men and women entering the legal profession,” she said.
As a Magistrate Judge, Garcia said she’s made decisions on cases that ensured justice for individuals while always prioritizing community safety. “Today, I am raising a daughter to know she can be both strong and kind, and to work in a world where she will be treated as an equal,” she said.
“I am raising sons to be strong, resilient, and compassionate and to know that women are equal partners in every aspect of the word,” she added.
“That’s the kind of leadership I’ll bring to the bench—a judge who knows the law, sees the person, and leads with knowledge, strength, compassion, fairness and equality for everyone,” she said.
“I humbly ask for your support and vote to become the next Judge of the 107th District Court, where fairness, experience, and compassion will guide the courtroom,” she concluded.
