The San Benito Lady Greyhounds’ volleyball team secured a spot in the Class 6A postseason, thanks to strong performances from several players.
For their efforts on the court, six Lady ‘Hounds were named to the All-District 32-6A Team.
“I’m very proud of the girls’ volleyball accomplishments this year, especially being selected for the district selection,” San Benito Head Volleyball Coach Ruby Medina said.
Senior Hayden Rodriguez was named to the first team. She earned team captain status, and her performance on the court demonstrated her value to the team. Statistically, Rodriguez recorded 29 aces, 122 kills, 36 assists, and 380 digs.
As a sophomore, newcomer Annalise Rodriguez was named to the all-district second team.
She was impactful for the Lady ‘Hounds, too.
Rodriguez recorded 55 aces, 155 kills, five blocks, 36 assists, and 348 digs.
The two Rodriguez athletes contributed to the team’s fourth-place finish in a small yet competitive district with only five teams. As a result, wins were crucial.
Among the Lady ‘Hounds who received Honorable Mention were two seniors, Jayla Delgado and Alexa Perea, junior Valeria Enriquez, and sophomore Kalista Olivares.
These Lady ’Hounds also played superbly as their stats indicate.
Delgado finished with 26 aces, 13 kills, 278 assists, and 190 digs.
Perea had 28 aces, 12 kills, 12 assists, and 234 digs.
Enriquez topped off with 29 aces, and also earned 69 kills, 273 assists, and 253 digs.
Olivares turned in four aces, 112 kills, eight blocks, 17 assists, and 33 digs.
“Every one of them brings their own distinctive qualities to the game,” Medina said. “Without each one of them, we would not have had a successful season.”
