Toni Crane, a founding board member of the San Benito Chamber of Commerce and its long-serving Chairman of the Board, has formally announced her resignation in a statement shared with the Chamber’s board of directors.
Her resignation becomes effective December 31, 2025.
Crane, who has served on the board since the Chamber’s re-establishment in 2013 and has held the position of Chairman for nearly nine years, said the decision came after much reflection.
“It is with a heavy heart and after careful consideration that I announce my resignation,” she wrote. “The Chamber has been an important part of my life for many years. Although this decision has taken an emotional toll, I believe this is the right moment for new leadership to continue the work we have built together.”
Throughout her tenure, Crane played a central role in shaping some of the Chamber’s signature community events, including Casino Night, the Resaca City Bike Tour, and El Sabor de San Benito. These events have grown into major traditions for residents and businesses alike, providing both community connection and essential fundraising for Chamber initiatives.
Crane expressed her gratitude to the Chamber’s volunteers, board members, business partners, and the broader San Benito community for their support throughout her years of service. She also acknowledged the support she has received from city leadership. “I am very grateful to the Mayor and Commissioners,” she said, emphasizing her appreciation for their longstanding partnership with the Chamber.
In response to Crane’s resignation, San Benito City Commissioner Deborah Morales shared a public message recognizing the impact of Crane’s work.
“It was bittersweet when Toni informed me of her decision to resign from the Chamber,” Morales said. “She has done so much for that organization, as well as the people who volunteer to make San Benito a welcoming place to live, work, and visit. Although she may not be part of the Chamber, she will continue to be one of our most valuable cheerleaders for San Benito. Mrs. Crane, thank you for all that you do for your city.”
Crane noted that she will remain available to assist during the leadership transition to ensure continuity as the Chamber prepares for its next chapter. Further updates regarding board leadership are expected in the coming weeks.
