The Texas Conjunto Music Hall of Fame and Museum is dedicated to promoting, preserving, archiving, documenting, and showcasing the rich history of conjunto music.
Since reopening its doors in 2023 at the historic Aztec Building in San Benito, the museum has welcomed visitors from across the United States and more than 10 countries worldwide.
The organization has also launched a variety of community-focused initiatives, including a conjunto film series, accordion lessons, and live performances highlighting talented musicians from the Rio Grande Valley.
“This recognition is a testament to the enduring legacy of conjunto music and the vibrant cultural heritage of our region,” said Patricia Avila, Executive Director of the museum and daughter of founder Rey Avila, Sr.
“It is with great enthusiasm and gratitude to know our non-profit is making an impact in the RGV community. This honor is the result of the hard work of those who work passionately to ensure that this genre lives on for younger generations.”
