Runners and walkers will light up the South Padre Island shoreline next month as Sea Turtle Inc. hosts its fifth annual Kemp’s Krawl Glow Run to raise money for sea turtle rescue, rehabilitation and conservation.
The nighttime beach run is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19, beginning at 6 p.m. at Barry’s Beach Bar at the Hilton Garden Inn.
Participants are encouraged to dress in bright colors and glow gear for the event, which takes runners directly onto the beach and combines the 5K with music and other activities.
“The Kemp’s Krawl has grown into such a special tradition for our team and community over the last five years,” Sea Turtle Inc. CEO Wendy Knight said. “It’s an incredible night to bring families and friends together on the beach for a fun event that directly supports our mission.”
Participants can choose from several options, including a timed 5K for $25, an untimed 5K for $20 and a one-mile family run for $20. A $30 virtual option is also available for supporters who cannot attend in person.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Sea Turtle Inc.’s work rescuing, caring for and protecting sea turtles.
Registration is available through Sea Turtle Inc.’s website. The event is open to runners and walkers of varying ages and experience levels.
