SPI Candidates to face voters at Oct. 12 forum – Port Isabel-South Padre Press

Candidates seeking two seats on the South Padre Island City Council will have an opportunity to address voters during a public candidate forum Monday, Oct. 12.

The South Padre Island Chamber of Commerce will host the forum from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the South Padre Island Convention Center. The event comes ahead of the city’s Nov. 3 general election, which will fill the unexpired terms for mayor and City Council Place 4. 1790981314_93702

The Chamber also lists the Oct. 12 forum on its public events calendar.

Members of the public may submit questions for consideration in advance of the forum. Questions may be submitted by email to Forum@spichamber.com, mailed to the Chamber at 4113 Padre Blvd., South Padre Island, TX 78597, or delivered in person in a sealed envelope.

The deadline to submit questions is Thursday, Oct. 8, at 4 p.m.

The forum follows the city’s Oct. 3 special election for the vacant Place 1 council seat.

Early voting for the Nov. 3 election begins Monday, Oct. 19, at the South Padre Island Community Center, 4501 Padre Blvd. Voting will continue through Friday, Oct. 30, with varying hours during the two-week period.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 3.
