A second administrator of a Laguna Vista community Facebook group has confirmed that she also received a cease-and-desist letter related to statements posted in the online forum.
Natalie Ruiz, an administrator of the “Laguna Vista Texas Happenings” Facebook group, said the letter from an attorney representing Olga Vega Carter is dated Jan. 7, 2026. Ruiz said the letter was delivered to her by certified mail on Jan. 21.
Ruiz stated that she responded to the attorney by certified letter on Jan. 26, which she said was received by the attorney on Jan. 28. According to Ruiz, she has not received any further communication regarding the matter since that time.
The Facebook group, which now has over 2,000 members, is commonly used by Laguna Vista residents to share community announcements, questions and local concerns.
Recent posts in the group have referenced the cease-and-desist letters and discussed the matter among members. The Press has not independently verified the contents of the letters described and is reporting on the publicly available discussion surrounding the issue.
As of publication time, no lawsuit related to the matter appears in publicly available Cameron County civil court records.
In the original article covering the matter, a statement from Vega Carter’s attorney was provided and published.
The discussion has drawn attention locally in part because it is occurring during a municipal election cycle in which Vega Carter’s husband is a candidate for mayor.
