Letters: Water worries | MyRGV.com

Corpus Christi is facing a water shortage and that problem is working its way to south Texas. Our reservoirs get lower and lower and yet with SpaceX, new communities and apartment complexes are being considered to bring more people to the Valley.

What happens when they can’t get water out of their taps because our reservoirs are dry?

We need to look at the entire picture and not just the money.

Trump vs. pope

The spat between the leader of the Roman Catholic Church and the leader of the free world puts both in a lose-lose situation, causing division among followers and parishioners.

I don’t know the reasons for this conflict between these two great men, but I pray calmer heads will prevail, and the president will heed advice to tone down his argument.

His Holiness Pope Leo is not held to any party or affiliation other than to the rights of all humanity, and maybe the president is ignorant of this in asking the pontiff to choose sides in the Iran conflict, because the pope will always side with the innocents who are the victims of the war in Iran, and rightly so because it is his duty as the “vicar of Christ” on Earth, a point President Trump is missing due to ignorance or lack of knowledge of Catholic doctrine.

As a Catholic, the urge to feel conflicted by choosing politics over religion is easily answered; when we present ourselves at the Pearly Gates of Heaven, I doubt St. Peter will be asking whom we voted for or what political party we were affiliated with.
