I wish I could say I’d had a feeling of being watched. Squatting on a marshy trail in Aransas National Wildlife Refuge to photograph an alligator mud path, I turned and saw what had to be an eight-footer staring out from the brush and, I presume, waiting for me to move on. “Es ist ein Krokodil!! ” yelled a nearby German tourist.
