A murder suspect wanted in North Carolina was apprehended by San Benito SWAT last week.
According to a statement from the San Benito Police Department (SBPD), Homero Martinez Obregon Jr. was wanted by the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina for a murder charge.
Police said members of the San Benito SWAT, Criminal Investigations, and Patrol Divisions executed an arrest warrant and took Martinez Obregon into custody without incident.
Martinez Obregon was reportedly living within the San Benito city limits, and his whereabouts and wanted status were provided to the police department, according to the SBPD statement.
On June 26, 2026, at or around 7:40 a.m., the SBPD executed a warrant for the arrest of Martinez Obregon, who was wanted by the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina for Murder in the 2nd degree, according to the statement.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
PURSUIT
In other SBPD news, due to circulating social media reports, the SBPD informed the public that around 9 a.m. Thursday, the SBPD assisted the Texas Department of Public Safety with a vehicle pursuit that ended within the San Benito city limits near the Palo Blanco/Heavin Park area.
According to an SBPD statement, SBPD officers provided backup to Texas DPS during the pursuit, which began outside the city limits.
No injuries or property damage were reported as a result of this incident, and all suspected individuals involved were apprehended shortly after the vehicle came to a stop.
