If all goes according to plan for the 2026 San Benito Greyhounds football print program, it will be larger than the previous year’s.
Last season, the 232-page publication was 20 pages longer than the previous year’s.
That translates to various factors, including the fact that the San Benito High School cheerleaders and Belles are selling advertisements in advance of the Greyhounds football season.
It’s the largest coordinated fundraiser the SBHS teenage students have, with all efforts centered on football, which reigns supreme in San Benito. The funds raised flow back into the cheer and dance programs.
Depending on the type of advertisement an individual or group is seeking, there are various football program deadlines to consider, with the first on Aug. 3.
Janie Rios is not only the cheerleading sponsor once again, but a Response to Intervention teacher at San Benito High School. Her responsibilities are extensive as she leads a high-energy group of students who just had their photos taken in advance of the program.
Rios said she is excited about the opportunity the community once again has in front of it.
“What makes this fundraiser special is that it’s truly inclusive — it’s not just about football, dance, or cheer,” Rios said. “The ads and sponsorships are open to families, clubs, organizations, and businesses celebrating a student at any grade level, from kindergarten through senior year, in any activity across the district.”
Deadlines are as follows: Varsity cheer banner: Monday, Aug. 3; Program ad priority: Friday, Aug. 14; Final deadline for program ads and posters: Thursday, Aug. 27.
“Our goal is to make sure students all around San Benito ISD get the chance to be highlighted and celebrated, not just those in the spotlight sports,” Rios said. Proceeds from the ads also directly fund SBHS varsity cheer’s upcoming annual competition, covering travel, uniforms, and entry costs for the season.
