Point Isabel ISD celebrated a new chapter Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Ruben M. and Maria Elida Torres Central Administration Building.

District officials, staff and community members gathered Aug. 12 at the new facility, located at 101 Port Road in Port Isabel, to mark its official opening.

The building was named in honor of Ruben M. and Maria Elida Torres, recognizing their legacy of service to students, staff and the greater Point Isabel community.

The 4 p.m. ceremony gave community members an opportunity to gather with district leaders and commemorate the milestone as Point Isabel ISD formally opened its new administrative home.

District officials described the occasion as both the beginning of a new chapter for Point Isabel ISD and an opportunity to recognize the lasting impact of those who have served the school community.

The new Central Administration Building will serve as a hub for district leadership and administrative operations as Point Isabel ISD continues serving students and families throughout the Laguna Madre area.
