The couple carefully descended the muddy hill. At the bottom, they found the source of the smell and noise. A car had crashed through the trees and landed upside down.

The front end was completely crushed. The man rushed to the driver’s-side window. Inside, an injured man struggled to breathe. “Hang on!” the man shouted.

The girl shone her flashlight through the broken glass. When the beam reached the back seat, they both froze. Lying there was the body of the same little boy they had followed through the woods.

Neither of them spoke. They already knew who had led them there. The man quickly called 911.

Minutes later, flashing red and blue lights filled the darkness. Rescue workers cut through the wreckage and pulled the injured driver free, then rushed him into an ambulance.

The couple watched as the emergency crews finished searching the car. Finally, the rescuers stepped back. The man sighed.

“I think it’s over,” he said.

But then the familiar chill returned. The temperature seemed to drop all around them. The little boy’s ghost appeared beside the girl. This time, he wasn’t sad. He smiled gently.

He raised his arm and pointed toward the wrecked car. “There’s nobody left in there,” the man said. “They already saved your dad.” But the boy kept pointing, again and again.

His expression grew desperate. The man hesitated, then ran back to the wreck. Following the boy’s direction, he forced open the damaged trunk.

At first, he saw nothing. Then he heard a faint sound — a tiny whimper.

Hidden in a cramped space near the back was a frightened little girl. She was injured and weak, but alive.

It was the boy’s younger sister. The man immediately yelled for help. Paramedics rushed back down the hill and carefully pulled the little girl to safety. As they carried her toward the ambulance, the boy’s ghost turned to face the couple.

For the first time that night, he looked completely at peace. He glanced at his sister, smiling.

Then he looked at the man, almost as if he were saying thank you. The boy gave a small nod. Moments later, his spirit slowly faded into the night sky and disappeared forever.

From that day on, the man never forgot his gloves. He wore them everywhere. Every ghost he had ever seen reminded him why. Some spirits needed help. Some carried warnings, and some had one final act of love left to give.

The man never knew when another lost soul might appear, but one thing was certain. As long as he remembered his gloves, their secrets would remain hidden.
