Cameron County will have the nostalgic tunes of the legendary rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival by having its most authentic tribute band headline its Labor Day weekend celebration.
Fortunate Son, known as the longest-running Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute act, will perform live in concert on Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Cameron County Amphitheater in South Padre Island.
“Labor Day weekend is one of the region’s most anticipated times of the year,” JC Hinojosa, director of Marketing and Management for Cameron County venues, said in a news release. “We’re excited to bring a show that captures the nostalgia, sound, and legacy of Creedence Clearwater Revival.”

There will only be general admission tickets available, so there won’t be reserved seating. According to the release, open seating is available on a first come, first serve basis.
Additionally, attendees can bring blankets and small folding chairs to enjoy the amphitheater lawn.
Children 12 years old and under have free admission.
The release noted that Fortunate Son’s performance promises a vibrant “60’s Summer Splashback” filled with timeless classics and unforgettable moments.
Adam Michaels, of Avenue of the Stars, LLC, whose company features various tribute acts of legendary artists and represents Fortunate Son, said in the release that “fans can expect an evening filled with CCR favorites showcased with authenticity and skill—celebrating classic songs that have defined generations.”
“This will be a night to remember for locals and visitors alike,” Hinojosa said, adding that those interested should book their stay on the Island now as rooms are going fast.
